Guess Who’s Back , Back Again…

The Alien is BACK - All the benefits of Wifi 6 and 3 wifi radios( One 2.4 Wifi 6, One 5GHz Wifi 5 and One 5GHz Wifi 6 ) !

Here’s a few things that makes Wifi 6 amazing:

•BSS Coloring - Enables devices on your network to only listen to traffic Only from YOUR network while on the same wifi channel as the environment APs.

•MU-MIMO - 8 antennas. iPhone, iPad, M1 Mac all are 2x2 antenna systems. The Alien can talk and listen to 4 (4 times 2 = 😎 devices simultaneously. Wifi 5 is limited to 1, no matter how many total antennas.

•OFDMA - Splits up 160, 80, 40 and 20 MHz channels into 9 (per 20MHz) segments. When is this useful — when using Switcher Studio and each camera feed is 6 Mbps (at 1080). In theory and according to other white papers the router can listen to 2 cameras in the same broadcast (wifi is limited to 1).

**Wait** How is OFDMA different from MU-MIMO? Remember 8 antennas. MU-MIMO can talk and listen to 4 (2x2 antenna) devices (all of our modern Apple devices) at the same time. This broadcast is across the 2 different antennas at the same time. OFDMA is split in 2 devices per 20 MHz of channel width (see below for definition). Both OFDMA and MU-MIMO cannot be used simultaneously by the router. The router chooses which is best based on some rules is lives by. Either technology is a WIN compared to Wifi 5.

**Channel Width** Think of it as lanes on the highway. There you are driving you CAR in ONE lane. THAT lane is = to 20 Mhz. If you drove YOUR car in the MIDDLE of 2 lanes, that would be = to 40 Mhz. If YOU swerved between 4 lanes, that would equal 80 Mhz. The MORE lanes you use, the more DATA could be used (or you could have a MUCH bigger car).
